“We’ve made it so far”

It may be a lyric from one of their tunes, but for The Tourist Company, it’s also a factual observation. Given that just over a year ago the band had only played a handful of shows behind their first album, the group has definitely made leaps and bounds to progress not only their career, but their sound and identity, growing to become one of Vancouver’s most intriguing new acts. They’ve been said to sound like worlds colliding, marrying the heart of storytelling folk alongside indie rock’s driving sonic qualities with an element of hip-hop’s groove.

They’ve released 2 EP’s (the Jordan Klassen-produced Space Race, and acoustic love story Atlantic), toured extensively throughout B.C. and Alberta including summer festivals Khatsalano and Jam In Jubilee, played a headlining slot at Harmony Arts Festival, won the title of Regional Champion in CBC Music’s Searchlight competition, with it all culminating in a Top 3 placement in the highly competitive 2014 Peak Performance Project; Canada’s largest artist development program.

For a group of friends that started out playing together at summer camp, they’ve shown that their continual pursuit for the next challenge is not only rewarding, but an experience that they don’t want to do alone. Won’t you consider travelling with them?
